Matching Gifts – Do you know if your company has a program to match charitable donations? It is estimated that over 65% of Fortune 500 companies offer matching gift programs; yet, over $6 billion in matching funds go unclaimed each year. Your tithes and offerings qualify as charitable contributions, so please take a moment and inquire with your employer to discover if your company offers a matching gift program. Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) – Did you know you can transfer funds directly from your IRA as a charitable contribution? If you are over age 70 ½, you have the option of directly transferring funds from your IRA to Fellowship. This tax provision was re-instated and became permanent in December of 2015. The law allows the transfer to take place tax free, and will not require you to report the distribution as income on your tax return – creating several possible tax benefits!
